The past two weeks we have been trying to get back into the swing of things. With the "cold days" off, MAP testing, and being off for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and SIP day, we are still working on having a "normal" schedule. That should resume after this week!
In science, we have continued our exploration of the human body. We tested our reflexes by dropping rulers and trying to catch them using isolated senses (just touch, just sound, or just sight) one at a time. We also explored what happens when a paper ball is thrown at your face (even with a transparency sheet protecting it). The kids tried hard not to blink or flinch, but it was near impossible! They sure had fun trying, though!
We will begin a Personalized Learning experience in early February. This means that all students will participate in an opportunity to explore a topic of their interest and do in-depth research on that topic. We have been starting to prepare the students for this with lessons in forming questions, documenting and note-taking when researching, and reflecting. Check out our question board with amazing questions the kids have been coming up with!!
In math, we are in the middle of Unit 6, which focuses on data and graphs, as well as more fractions, decimals, and percents. We are aiming for the test being sometime middle/late next week.
