We had a busy, exciting week here at Dryden last week. This is such a bittersweet time of year. While I love all the events and sharing this time with the kids, I also know that it means we are close to the end of the year. This is truly a special group of kids, and while I know they are all ready for South, I know that I will miss them tremendously and hope to hear from them from time to time.
Bringing our year-long learning and focus on kindness full circle, we kicked last week off with a visit from Pete from Pete's Diary. They kids were so engaged, respectful, and asked great questions.
Finally having some nice weather, we did a little silent reading in the courtyard.
And we ended the week with a wonderful time at World of Work and the 5th grade luncheon. A huge thank you goes out to all the parents who helped make this a successful day and special lunch. To those who helped coordinate, chaperone, put lunches together, and helped kids to be looking and feeling their best that morning-THANK YOU!!
On Monday, my math class will have their Chapter 11 Test.
On Tuesday, we will have our Children of the Wild West Test. This will be the last chapter of the book. While there is no study guide, students can choose to pre-read that chapter to prepare for the test.
Next week we will find out which wagon trains made it to Oregon! Our final test will be on Wednesday. Students should use their Pioneer Packets and notes from class to prepare for the test.
After wrapping up our studies on Westward Expansion we will dive into science and reading units both covering Ecosystems.
The patrol field trip will be Friday, May 18. Additional details and permission slips will be coming home soon!
