Enough of being all sappy now and on to some business and fun pics....
I often am asked what kids can do over the summer to not experience that "Summer Slide." A couple of years ago I put together a video that goes through some of my suggestions for how you can help your kids and facilitate some authentic learning and practice over the summer. I believe in getting the kids doing natural things like planning day trips, reading instructions for how to build a model airplane or grow a garden, and calculating a budget for an outing (and many more) during the summer days to keep practicing their skills. You can see my ideas here: Summer Literacy and Math Ideas Video. I also use this site: Math Aids for practice sheets in summer school.
In addition, practicing those multiplication facts and reading, reading, reading is always good!! :)
We also have a district summer typing challenge:
Which elementary school will be the victor? Join the first ever district-wide summer keyboarding challenge! From June 9th until August 21st each minute you spend on typingtraining.com will be added to your school total. A prize will be awarded to the winning school and to the top typers at each school. For details please see the flyer.
