Welcome to your child's fifth grade year!! I am Miss Jennifer Feck and I will be your child’s fifth grade teacher. I am so excited to welcome each and every one of the students into my classroom for their final year at Dryden! I look forward to getting to know you all as the year goes on, but I will start by giving you a little bit of background info about myself. I grew up in the Schaumburg area and attended the schools in District 54. I graduated from Northern Illinois University (Go Huskies!) with my Bachelor of Science in Education, where I also received a middle school endorsement in Language Arts. A few years into teaching I then completed my Master of Arts Degree as a Reading Specialist through Saint Xavier University. I have also completed a professional development certificate in Computer Applications in the classroom. This is my eleventh year at Dryden, as well as my eleventh year with Arlington Heights School District 25. It has always been my professional goal to become a teacher and reach out and inspire my students to have a passion for learning and knowledge, just as I have always had.
I am extremely dedicated to teaching and making each child’s school experience the best and most fulfilling as possible. I realize that every child learns differently and that many factors influence the way a student learns. I am an advocate for using students’ prior knowledge and interests to help motivate learning; therefore, on our first day I will be asking each student to complete a student survey for me so that I can try to get some basic information about your child to start the year off. I also realize that every student learns at their own individual level and I am very excited to work with you and your child to zero in on individual learning and work to challenge each child appropriately.
I look forward to meeting with you and discussing your child’s needs as an active learner, as well as their interests. I also look forward to sharing more information about our curriculum and events for the year, as well as more about my professional beliefs and goals at our upcoming Curriculum Night (Thur 9/8). Thank you in advance for your time and support with your child’s education. I hope to see you at our Back to School Night (Ice Cream Social) on Thursday, August 25th from 5-6:30! If you have any questions before then, my email is [email protected]. :)
