This week we have Picture Day on Thursday (10/3). Dryden's Just Jump Challenge is on Friday (10/4).
We have begun our first science unit on Energy. The kids are great at identifying our 8 forms of energy: light, chemical, heat, sound, motion, gravitational, and elastic. This week we will be playing with toys to map out how energy transfers occur, and then applying that knowledge to everyday objects around us at home.
We are reviewing Treasures Unit 1 this week and will have our Unit Test on Thursday. Grammar skills from this unit include: types of sentences, punctuation, compound sentences, complex sentences, run-on sentences, fragments, subjects & predicates, and friendly letter formats. Comprehension skills include: identifying character, setting, plot, and cause & effect relationships, as well as comparing and contrasting, reading captions, pulling information from tables and charts, and navigating websites.
In math we have moved into Unit 3: Data and Geometry. Any student wanting to re-take the Unit 2 Test must complete the Retake Request Form and log at least 30 minutes in Khan Academy. Remember that students can use our Edmodo page, Khan Academy, and everydaymathonline.com to help them with homework or to practice skills.
Check back soon for videos from the kids on the different forms of energy around the school!
