The week we come back from break we will continue our vocabulary routines, although our vocabulary will be a review of the first 12 prefixes and roots. Students will still need to write sentences and answer vocabulary questions on Edmodo, but it will be slightly different as these assignments will cover a sampling from all 12 weeks. Resources to review the prefixes and roots can be found on Edmodo or by clicking here. Students will receive a new literacy checklist to keep track of assignments on Monday. This should be taped in students’ assignment notebooks or can be found here.
Students with numbers 11-20 have their seventh Vlog on SeeSaw due Friday, January 10th. Students with numbers 1-10 have their seventh reading response on Google Classroom due on Friday, January 10th.
***There will be no reading logs or vlogs due over the Winter Break.
We’re continuing to work on our Revolutionary War novels. Students have had some time in class to get started on their assignments; anything not finished in class should be completed at home by the due date. Due dates and assignments can be found inside students’ folders or here. Due dates will vary by groups, so be sure to remind your student to check Edmodo to ensure he/she is staying on top of the work. In addition to their assigned chapters, students will fill out this sheet each week. There is no extra assignment due over break, but students should be ready to meet on their regularly scheduled day (even Monday Jan 6th for Toliver) when we return.
My math class will be continuing with Chapter 4 after break. Videos corresponding to each of the lessons can be found here. The IXL checklist with skills aligned to each chapter can be found here. The Chapter 4 test is currently scheduled for the week after break; we will review in class the beginning of the week and the test will be near the end of the week. Here is a doc with some resources on chapter 4 if your child is looking for extra practice over winter break. This is completely optional!
Six Flags Read to Succeed information was sent home in students’ Friday folders last week. There are some changes to the reporting of reading hours this year, so please read the letter carefully. Parents now need to log students’ hours online using the code listed in the letter. A log is included in the letter, but SHOULD NOT be returned to school. Please let me know if you have any questions.
If you have not already filled out the preference form for your child’s spring conference, here is the link to the form. The deadline to submit a preference is today (December 20).
Please remember to sign and return your student’s Friday folder each week. Papers in the pockets of the Friday folder can be left at home.
CogAT reports were sent home with students on Thursday. If you did not receive your report or if you have questions, please let me know.
Happy Holidays!!!
