We are wrapping up Chapter 14 in History Alive. Our focus is on the Constitution and our government. Resources to review will be posted to Edmodo or can be found here. The Chapter 14 test is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, February 27th.
We’ll also be wrapping up Freedom Walkers and our nonfiction reading unit in the next week. The Freedom Walkers test is currently scheduled for Wednesday, February 26th. Students will be completing questions similar to those we’ve done in class together, only on their own. To prepare for this test, students should review their work in the Freedom Walkers packet, look over feedback on related Edmodo assignments, and pre-read Chapter 7 of Freedom Walkers.
My math class just started Chapter 8. Chapter 8 is in volume B of Math in Focus. Students should have brought their volume A workbooks home. These should stay at home. Students will not need workbook volume A for the remainder of the school year. You may choose to keep the workbook for enrichment or recycle it. Chapter 8 is another fairly short chapter. We anticipate moving through most of it next week and testing early the week of 3/2.
Next week, Mrs. Thompson will be meeting with each 5th grade class to review Erin’s Law information. Your student will be bringing home a letter from her after the presentation with details about what was discussed. Please let me know if you have any questions.

As a reminder, the school snack policy is that students may only have a fruit or vegetable in it’s own skin for a morning snack. Lately I have been having many conversations with students who are bringing chips, crackers, granola bars, etc. If you could please reinforce at home that students may only bring a fruit or vegetable for snack, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
Please check with your student to see the status of his/her school supplies. Many students no longer have scotch tape, pencils, and scissors. If your student can no longer locate his or her math or reading notebook, please send in a replacement as soon as possible.
Have a great weekend!
